The tale of Noah and the flood is one of the best known stories in the bible. It survives today mostly as a fairytale, but what did this narrative actually mean to our biblical ancestors? And what can we, as modern adults, take from the story today? Join Cantor Stuart Binder for a fascinating discussion about the light that modern scholarship has shone on this ancient legend.

Join us for a presentation on financial organization, including strategies for handling all the mail you receive and those piles of paper that have been in the same place for weeks or months.  The discussion will include what to keep and what to toss, how long to keep paperwork and how to identity theft in the process. You will leave with ideas to get rid of the clutter in your home that add stress in your life! Jewish Bereavement Group starting 3/3/2016

This is a weekly group in which members converse openly and support one another through the grief process. Open to any Jewish adult, regardless of affiliation, who has lost a loved one within the past 18 months. Facilitated by Beverly Rubman, Chaplain.

The group will meeting on Thursday mornings from 10:30am – 12:00pm, March 3rd through April 14th (excluding 3/24), at the JFCS office at 707 Alexander Road, Suite 102, Princeton. $36 for 6 sessions.

The Great Heroes of the Exodus with Rabbi Adam Feldman

Join us for an in depth discussion about of the well-known Biblical Exodus story including some not so well-known details about the important characters. Rabbi Adam Feldman will focus on the traditional Biblical story, some more modern understandings and try to bring them together in time for us to prepare for a discussion at our Passover Seder in a few months. No prior knowledge is necessary – just the desire to see the old story through a new modern lens.

The Making of a Mensch

This program will explore what neuro-scientists have learned about character – and frame it through the lens of the ancient Jewish teachings of Mussar. The short film and discussion, led by Anne Berman-Waldorf, will focus on teachings around character development that date back to the 10th century and explore how we can use these ancient Jewish tools to enrich our 21st century lives.

“The Jewish Experience in Opera” will be presented by opera-aficionado Jerry Kalstein and will focus on operas on Jewish topics, by Jewish composers, and the contribution of great Jewish singers, Jan Peerce, Richard Tucker and Robert Merrill.  Program will be based on CD recordings and Mr. Kalstein’s narration.  Jerry Kalstein is president of the board of Boheme Opera NJ.
