Caregiver Support Group

CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUP:  For Those Under The Age of 75 Who are Helping Their Spouse

Are you caring for a spouse with Parkinson’s Disease, Alzheimer’s, early onset dementia or chronic illness?  You are not alone. Our non-sectarian caregiver support group is specially geared to those under the age of 75.  It will provide tips, techniques and  resources to help you live your life while supporting your loved one.  This group will be facilitated by Chaplain Beverly Rubman, MA.

When:  Held every other Tuesday from 10:15 a.m.—11:30 a.m.  Please call us at 609-987-8100 to find out when the next session begins.

Where:  The Jewish Center in the Adult Library (435 Nassau Street, Princeton)

Cost:  $50 for 6 sessions

Jewish Bereavement Group beginning 6/1/16

This is a weekly group in which members converse openly and support one another through the grief process. Open to any Jewish adult, regardless of affiliation, who has lost a loved one within the past 18 months. Facilitated by Beverly Rubman, Chaplain.

The group will meeting on Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm – 8:00pm, June 1st through July 6th, at the JFCS office at 707 Alexander Road, Suite 102, Princeton. $50 for 6 sessions.

Join us for a showing of “ONLY A NUMBER” along with its director Steven Besserman.  The film is about the Holocaust experience, crafted by Besserman’s dedication to sharing his mother’s incredible story of survival. Besserman’s mother, Aranka, was a Holocaust survivor who suffered from dementia in her later years. Before the disease began to eat away at her memory, she documented her experiences as a young girl and the horrors she witnessed and endured at the hands of the Nazis. This powerful documentary tells her story through Steven’s journey of rediscovery as he retraces Aranka’s steps.

Presenter Melissa Sodowick, MSW, LSW is an experienced and certified geriatric care manager, working at Jewish Family and Children’s Services of Greater Mercer County in the Senior Services Department.

  • What happens during my hospital stay?
  • What is discharge planning?
  • Can my personal physician interface with the hospitalist?
  • What is the role of the hospital social worker?
  • Who is covered for skilled nursing under Medicare?
