The Empty Chair: Dealing With Grief During Passover

Description: Join us for a unique one-time support session for all grieving during Passover. Passover is the most family- centered Jewish Holiday. You will discuss living with your sadness when others are celebrating a festive meal, what you do and don’t want at your seder this year, and possible new rituals and traditions. This group will be facilitated by Chaplin Beverly Rubman.

Disarmed- A Personal Story of Struggle & Resilience

Description: Come meet Izzy Ezagui, a decorated squad commander in the Israel Defense Forces who is the only sharpshooter in the world to lose an arm in combat and return to the battlefield. You’ll hear his story of drive and determination. Izzy will discuss his newly-released book which combines refreshing candor with self-deprecating wit. It is an inspiring memoir which will encourage you to live up to your aspirations despite seemingly impossible odds.

Take a Stand: Countering the Bully

Join us for an exploration of tools to combat bullying – as parents, students, educators, school administrators and community leaders.
We will screen “Wonder” the film which tells the inspiring story of a boy with facial differences who encounters and deals with bullies when attending a mainstream elementary school for the first time.

Film followed by a discussion unpacking the movie themes with a panel of professionals and clinicians

Description: Jews are known as The People of the book – the cookbook! Gloria Goldbert, speaker and Educator, will present “Let My People Eat.. And Eat.. And Eat!” an interesting and entertaining look at the Jewish foods from Biblical times to the present. Some are familiar foods, but others are as not well-known: Have you ever tasted ancestral foods such as aufschnitt or adafina? BONUS: Each attendee will receive a copy of Golda Meir’s world famous recipe for chicken soup with matzo balls!! A kosher lunch will be served and there is a suggested donation of $5.00 per person.

Description: The Talmud is filled with examples of rabbis disagreeing over the interpretation of Torah and how rituals and rules should be implemented. Join Ann Berman-Waldorf as we look at some of the arguments presented and how the answers influence our Jewish practices today. Caregiver Support Group

Description: Jewish Family & Children’s Service of Greater Mercer County has announced a new Caregiver Support Group for those who are taking care of a spouse. This non-sectarian group will provide a collective should of support, as well as tips, techniques and resources to help caregivers. The group is open to the community and will be facilitated by Chaplain Beverly Rubman. Coffee and light refreshments will be served.

When: For six Tuesdays beginning January 23rd

Time: 10:30am to 11:45am
